本書カヴァーには、「2002年のベイカー氏の死後、ハッカー氏が徹底的に改訂」(大意)したとある。今回出たのはVolume 1で、Part I〜IIの2冊に分かれている。Part Iはエッセイ(論文)を、Part IIは注釈(第1〜184節)を収録。Part Iには新しいエッセイ2本が追加され、Part IIには Nachlassウィトゲンシュタインの遺稿データベース)を用いた検討が反映されているとのこと。
